Note from Sri B N Narasihmamurthy,
Warden of the Hostel at Brindavan

Bhagawan has, time and again, reminded His students of what He expects from them. Here are a few excerpts from His earliest addresses to them:

"This college has not been established just to prepare you for earning degrees. The main purpose is to help you to cultivate self-knowledge and self-confidence, so that each one of you can learn self-sacrifice and earn self-realisation. Teaching the university curricula, preparing you for the examinations and awarding university degrees are only the means employed for the end, namely spiritual uplift, self-discovery and social service through love and detachment. Our hope is that by your lives you will be shining examples of spiritual awareness and its beneficial consequences to the individual and society."

It is clear that Bhagawan expects His students to be harbingers of the new age that He has come to usher in - the era of love, joy, peace and harmony based on spiritual awareness. He envisages that His students will be the agents and leaders of transformation in all spheres of life.

Bhagawan Baba is spearheading the greatest ever movement for spiritual and moral rejuvenation of mankind in contemporary times. He has founded a number of institutions and organisations for this purpose. His students will have to prepare themselves to provide leadership to these institutions and organisations in the near future. It is an onerous responsibility. Intelligence, talent and skill alone are not enough to discharge this responsibility. The most important requirement is an indomitable strength of character. Individual sadhana - the concerted effort for one's own spiritual upliftment - is the foundation of such character. The essence of individual sadhana is our effort to feel one with Him for sometime every day. Such an experience of unity with Him will grant us the strength of character required to lead institutions and organisations.

May we take the first step with complete faith in Him, by commencing a dialogue on a basic routine for our daily life, where there is space for individual Sadhana.

Yours in His Mission,
